Bansko Property Investments
Why Invest in Bansko?
The ski resort Bansko has experienced explosive property price appreciation
in the past 12-18 months as foreigners are increasingly attracted to the
resort.
Bulgaria enjoys a low cost of living and is on track for entry
to the European Union in 2007. For those of you who grow tired of the same
old trips to the likes of France or Spain - Bulgaria offers a refreshing
change of scenery and culture - and all within less than a three-hour flight
from the UK.
What you must do is first ask yourself, why do you want to
buy a property in Bulgaria? Perhaps you havent made your mind up yet, or
you want to know more about Bulgaria before deciding? If so, then you can
take a look at our About
Bulgaria Section.
What's particularly attractive about Bulgaria is that it can
offer you so many contrasting lifestyles all within the same country - whether
it be an energetic ski down the mountain slopes in winter; a lazy, relaxing
break in the country in the spring; a sun-bathing haven in the summer or
a cosmopolitan city life in the autumn months - there really is something
for everyone.
With the prospect of the Winter Olympics in 2014 and full
EU membership scheduled for January 2007, Bulgaria has become one of Europe's
fastest-growing markets. The popular ski-resort of Bansko has experienced
explosive property price appreciation in the past 12-18 months as foreigners
are increasingly attracted to the resort.
The resort is increasingly on the radar screens of European tour operators,
as well as the international press. In November 2005 the resort had editorials
by all major UK print media as well as the New York Times.
Exact tourist numbers are difficult to ascertain, but current estimates
are 400,000 visitors over the 2003/4 period. This is expected to grow at
16% over the 2005/6 season.
The road joining Sofia with Kulata on the Greek border is in the process
of been upgraded to dual carriage-way. Bansko lies some 40km off this route
and it is estimated once complete, travel time will fall to around 110 minutes
from Sofia airport.
A new border crossing at Il Linden on the Greek border was opened on the
11 Dec 2005. Greek nationals constituted 18% of all tourists to Bulgaria
in 2004.
A luxury 18 hole golf course designed by Ian Woosnam is to be completed
by 2007; a new road joining the city centre with the golf course will shorten
the distance to around 1.5km. 2 Further golf courses are planned in the
larger area.
The construction of a new 8 person gondola began in late 2005; estimated
completion date is early 2007.
